The honest middle
Consumer bankruptcy searches carry emotion and urgency, and pay per click in legal categories is rarely cheap. Both facts push in the same direction: be exact about who you want to reach. A firm that lets paid ads bid broadly on "debt help" may fill the phone with callers who need a credit counselor, a tax resolution company or a free clinic. Those calls tie up intake staff and teach the account to chase the wrong people.
The better pattern is to let the highest-intent phrases carry most of the budget, then expand carefully into situation-based searches such as garnishment, foreclosure, repossession and lawsuit-from-a-creditor language, and treat comparison and education searches as a supporting layer. Each layer has its own campaign, so you can see what an intake call from each source actually produces in consultations and retained clients.
Geography needs thought as well. Bankruptcy is filed in federal districts and governed by state exemption rules, and you can only advise people in places where you are licensed and admitted to practice. Target the cities and counties you can serve, and consider excluding areas where you cannot, so the ad never invites a call you would have to turn away.
